Our Story
The Imara Advisory Group was founded on a straightforward conviction: that the most effective strategies for African markets are built with Africa, not for it.
Our founders are four women who spent decades as diplomats and senior leaders managing large-scale initiatives across the continent. That work placed us at the center of consequential decisions — advising governments, building partnerships with local institutions, and navigating the competing priorities that donors, investors, and policymakers face when determining where and how to deploy resources for lasting impact. We understand those trade-offs because we have lived them.
We founded The Imara Advisory Group because we believed the sector needed a different kind of advisory firm — one with the relationships, contextual knowledge, and diplomatic experience to help clients move from strategy to execution with confidence.
Imara means "strong" and "resolute" in Swahili. It reflects the standard we hold ourselves to and the result we pursue for every client.
We are strategists and trusted advisors. We know the decision makers, we understand the terrain, and we are committed to helping our clients invest where it matters most.
